SKU: 101 Copenhagen Sumo Categories: , Tag:

The Sumo vase celebrates the beauty and power of the human form. Inspired by the traditional Japanese sport, each vase in the collection features a voluminous body balanced delicately on slender, pointed legs. Every piece offers a unique interpretation of the classic vase — from narrow openings to sculptural double or deeply carved mouths — challenging the viewer's expectations.
With its bold shapes and artistic edge, the Sumo collection stands out as a sculptural object on its own, yet comes alive as a unified family when displayed together. Each vase is hand-glazed, giving it a rich, tactile surface with subtle variations in color and finish. Please note: the vase is not 100% waterproof; a plastic liner is included for fresh flowers.

Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl

Tommy Hyldahl, owner and designer – With a background in fashion, having spent years forecasting and analyzing future trends, Tommy Hyldahl has a natural attention to detail in materials, historical references, and original design concepts. Similar to the process in fashion, the design at 101 Copenhagen, begins with an idea that evolves into a full layered narrative for each collection.

Kristian Sofus Hansen, designer – With a background from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and time spent living and studying in Japan, Kristian Sofus Hansen brings aesthetics and simplicity to the Danish design heritage and translates these details into the 101 Copenhagen collection. Mainly designing sculptures and objects, it is a never-ending source of inspiration for Hansen, whose aim is to create characteristic and functional designs to remember.
